Job Description:
We are seeking a people-focused, organized, and proactive HR Manager to support our team of 25 employees at our dog boarding facility. The ideal candidate will uphold our company values—safety, loving care, excellence, quality, integrity, and relationships—while overseeing all aspects of human resources, including recruitment, employee relations, training, and compliance.
We believe that staff training is a huge part of our success and have developed a training path for each role. Your responsibilities will include hiring staff, overseeing staff development and progress through our current training system, continuing to build upon what we have, building relationships with the staff, coordinating team-building activities, and other responsibilities related to the hiring and development of our employees.
It is REQUIRED that the candidate have prior HR experience and can demonstrate a clear understanding of these aspects of employee development. We want someone who can bring in VALUABLE experience to our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Recruitment & Onboarding
-Manage job postings, screening, interviewing, and hiring for all roles
-Coordinate and facilitate employee onboarding and orientation programs
-Ensure new hires understand and align with company values and safety protocols
2. Employee Relations & Culture
-Foster a positive, team-centered workplace culture that supports employee well-being
-Act as a point of contact for conflict resolution and employee concerns
-Support and promote employee recognition and engagement programs
3. Training & Development
-Create and manage training plans for new and existing employees
-Support shift leads and managers in delivering job-specific and safety-related training
-Track and document training compliance, including animal handling and emergency procedures
4. Performance Management
-Support mid-year and end-of-year performance review processes
-Assist managers in goal-setting, coaching, and development planning
-Maintain documentation of performance issues and progressive discipline when needed
5. Compliance & Policy Management
-Maintain compliance with federal and state employment laws
-Maintain accurate employee records (e.g., I-9s, time-off, performance documentation)
-Keep employee handbook up to date and aligned with company policies
6. Scheduling & Payroll Support
-Oversee time tracking and scheduling systems to ensure accurate payroll processing
-Work with the office and kennel manager to ensure timely and correct payroll
-Track PTO and sick leave balances
7. Safety & Risk Management
-Collaborate with leadership to ensure all employees follow animal safety protocols
-Support managers with incident reporting and resolution (e.g., injuries, bites, or safety concerns)
-Ensure compliance with OSHA and workplace safety standards
8. HR Strategy & Leadership
-Act as a strategic partner to the owners and managers
-Provide insight on staffing needs, turnover trends, and employee satisfaction
-Develop HR processes and tools appropriate for a growing small business
